CELEBRATING OUR 150th READER GIVEAWAY

About Me

My photo
I have collected incredible amounts of cross stitch magazines in my over 30+ years of cross stitching. I enjoy knitting, crocheting and cross stitch. In May 2011 I decided to make my dream of sharing my love of needlecrafts a reality and started the online shop, The Stitcher's Market along with hubby. My biggest hope is to pass on my love of stitching to my children. Let's face it, some one has to inherit all my stash. I am shy, but I truly appreciate everyone's comments and friendship. I am glad to help anyone who needs any stitching information. I love to have giveaways and share other bloggers giveaways, so please stop by often. Enjoy your stay!

Did you miss me?

Believe me, it was not intentional.

The computer that I use for my blogging and everything else was infected with at least 50 viruses. It got so bad that I could not even get it to load anything. Scary, scary!!

I guess that at some point in my life I did something really kind for someone, because someone I know offered to use their expertise to help me clean the computer. It took 5 days! I had worms and viruses. Even my viruses had viruses.

He found a keystroke logger, trackers and other things that are just plain scary. So, I have learned my lesson and will purchase anti-virus software as soon as my pocketbook lets me. I have 25 days to purchase it since I have the trial version right now.

Plan to get him at least a gift card to Dunkin Donuts, he saved me money I don't have. There were times I was going to just throw out this computer thinking that it was garbage. Not so, it was just infected.

Thought I would share that with you so you can learn from my experience and keep safe.

Scary, scary.... and it is not even Halloween....

Welcome back!! Maybe check with your internet provider? We have Comcast and they give us Norton Antivirus software free. there is also Malwarebytes Anti-Malware that I downloaded for free online and it caught a key stroke program that was loaded on my system!

Avast is a good free antivirus program. My hubby and I have it on all of our computers - it's also what we tell all our family to get.

A lack of anti-viral software can definitely lead to a real mess. We went through this with one of my sons. I'm sorry that you had a similar problem but you were so blessed with your offer to clean it up. My son wasn't so lucky.

I don't know if you're aware or not but there are some good virus and spyware programs out there that are free.
We have been using one of them now for three years after a friend recommended it and we haven't had any problems. One of the best out there is AVG. Here's a link to their website where you can download the free version. This is not a trial version but a bonafide free version.

You can always purchase the upgraded version but at least this will protect you in the meantime. Good luck!
